Selling a car, posting a dashcam clip frame, or sharing a street photo all put a license plate on the public internet, and a plate ties straight back to a person and an address through anyone with lookup access.

Draw a box over the plate and pick a mode. Plates are high-contrast text, which is exactly the kind of content that pixelation handles worst, so the tool nudges you toward solid fill and then verifies the covered pixels after export.

How it works

  1. Drop or select an image — it opens locally in the editor.

  2. Draw rectangles over sensitive content in Secure Black, Secure White, or Custom Solid mode.

  3. Optionally switch to Blur or Pixelate for non-confidential cosmetic obscuring (a persistent warning explains the difference).

  4. Review the region list, then export. The final image is rasterized into brand-new pixels.

  5. The tool re-decodes the output and verifies every secure region contains only replacement pixels before offering the download.

How the result is verified

After export the tool decodes the output bytes again and samples every secure region to confirm the pixels exactly match the replacement color, and confirms the output carries no EXIF metadata. If any check fails, the download is blocked and marked Failed verification.

Frequently asked questions

Why is pixelating a plate risky?

Plates use standardized fonts on flat backgrounds, which makes them close to a best-case scenario for de-pixelation techniques. A solid rectangle leaves nothing to reconstruct.

Does this remove the location data too?

Yes, the re-encoded export carries no EXIF metadata, so GPS coordinates from your phone don't travel with the image. There's also a dedicated GPS removal page if that's all you need.
