How to use extract audio from video
Select a video (or audio) file.
The audio stream is decoded locally into raw samples.
Choose lossless WAV or compact WebM/Opus output.
The output's duration is verified against the source before download.
What this tool does
- Decodes any audio your browser can play
- Lossless WAV (16-bit PCM) output
- Compact WebM/Opus output for smaller files
- Handles audio-only inputs too (e.g. convert OGG to WAV)
How the result is verified
The exported file is re-decoded locally and its duration compared with the source audio within tolerance.
Frequently asked questions
Is WAV or Opus better?
WAV is lossless and universally compatible but large. WebM/Opus is compressed and much smaller — good for voice recordings. For editing or transcription, either works; for archiving music, prefer WAV.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened with your browser's File API and processed by code running in your tab. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network panel, and process a file — no request carries your file's bytes. See our How it works page for a step-by-step verification guide.
