Remove formulas from Excel and keep the values

Formulas leak. Send a quote sheet and the formulas reveal your margin math; share an analysis and they expose references to sheets and files the recipient was never meant to know exist. Converting to values keeps the numbers and drops the how.

Rather than editing your file in place, this tool builds a brand-new workbook containing only the displayed values, so there's nowhere for formula remnants to hide. The output is reparsed and verified to contain zero formulas before you get it.

This is Clean Excel Copy (Values Only) preconfigured for this task — open the full tool for every option.

How it works

  1. Select a workbook. Sheets are listed with visibility status.

  2. Choose which sheets to include (hidden sheets are excluded by default).

  3. A brand-new workbook is built from displayed values only.

  4. The output is reparsed to verify it contains no formulas, comments, links, or properties, then downloads.

What the tool does

  • Fresh workbook rebuilt from values — original package parts are never copied
  • Excludes formulas, comments, hyperlinks, defined names, macros, and document properties by construction
  • Hidden and very-hidden sheets excluded by default (opt-in per sheet)
  • XLSX or per-sheet CSV output

How the result is verified

The output package is reparsed and scanned: verification requires zero formulas, zero comments, zero hyperlinks, zero defined names, and empty document properties, plus matching sheet and row counts for what you selected.

Frequently asked questions

Why not just copy-paste-values in Excel?

That works for a range, but it leaves the rest of the workbook intact: defined names, hidden sheets, metadata, external link remnants. A fresh values-only rebuild starts from an empty file, so nothing survives except the values you chose.

How do I know the formulas are really gone?

The tool reopens its own output and scans every cell plus the underlying package for formula records. If any survived, verification fails and the download is blocked.
