How to use watermark, number & bates pdf
Select a PDF and choose Watermark, Header & footer, or Bates numbering.
Configure text, page tokens, sequence, color, opacity, and target pages.
Apply — each label is drawn into the selected pages of a fresh local output.
The output is reopened and its added labels are extracted before download.
What this tool does
- Custom text with size, opacity, color, and rotation
- Header and footer templates with page, total-page, and date tokens
- Prefix, suffix, starting value, and digit width for Bates numbering
- All, odd, even, or explicit page-range targeting
- Fresh-document output with PDF.js text-extraction verification
How the result is verified
The stamped output is reopened with PDF.js and pdf-lib. Its page count must match, and every expected added label must be extractable on its targeted page.
Frequently asked questions
Does a watermark protect confidential content?
No. It signals status (like DRAFT) and discourages reuse, but underlying text remains selectable and extractable. To remove sensitive content, use redaction.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened with your browser's File API and processed by code running in your tab. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network panel, and process a file — no request carries your file's bytes. See our How it works page for a step-by-step verification guide.
