Frequently asked questions
Cover or contain — which mode do I want?
Cover fills the full 1080 × 1080 square by center-cropping — right for photos. Contain shrinks your whole image to fit inside the square, leaving padding — right when nothing may be cropped.
Will Instagram recompress my image anyway?
Yes — every platform re-encodes uploads. Supplying the exact target size means that recompression is the only quality hit, with no additional scaling pass.
